A short, practical guide to installing the app on Android and iOS, the permissions it requests, and the differences between the app and the browser version. We are not the publisher of the app; this page explains what we have observed.

Permissions — what the app asks for and why.

The rummy app asks for three categories of permission. The first is identity: camera access (for KYC document capture), storage access (for uploading existing documents), and notification access (for table alerts). The second is connectivity: network state (to detect connection drops and recover the session). The third is device: storage space (for the app's own data).

None of these permissions is unusual for a real-money app, and none gives the app access to anything beyond what is needed for the table to function. We do not see microphone access, contacts access or location access requested by reputable rummy apps — if you see those requests, treat them as a red flag.

How to check

On Android, open Settings → Apps → [App name] → Permissions. On iOS, open Settings → [App name]. The list of granted permissions is shown there. Compare it against the list above; if anything else is requested, file a support ticket before you proceed.

Browser vs app

What is different on the phone.

Three differences that affect how you play, not just where you play.

Notifications

The app pushes notifications when a tournament you joined is starting, when a hand is waiting for you, and when a withdrawal is processed. The browser version only notifies when the tab is open.

Camera KYC

The app uses the phone camera for KYC document capture; the browser version prompts you to upload existing photos. Both work, but the app's camera capture is faster.

Battery and data

The app uses more battery and a slightly different data profile than the browser version. On metered connections, this matters; on Wi-Fi it does not.

Settings

App settings worth changing.

Five preferences that materially change how the app feels during a session — the defaults are reasonable, but most players want at least two of these changed.

Notification preferences are the first thing to revisit after install. The default is "all on" — every tournament alert, every hand waiting for you, every withdrawal processed, every promotional push. That default is loud enough that most players mute two of the four categories within the first week. The sensible split is to keep tournament alerts and withdrawal confirmations on (these are the notifications that protect your time and your money) and to mute hand-waiting alerts (the app already shows you on the home screen) and promotional pushes (the platform's marketing always finds another way to reach you, often through email).

Sound settings deserve a separate decision. The default table sound pack includes a card-flip chime, a turn indicator, a chip-stack click and a win sting. On a phone, this is louder than it appears in the preview — the table sound is mixed at the same level as your ringtone, and a turn indicator at the wrong moment will wake a household. The settings panel lets you drop the table volume independently of the system volume and lets you disable individual cues. Most regular players keep the turn indicator (useful) and the win sting (psychological reward), and disable the rest.

Table display options affect how much information you see per hand. The two settings that matter are the card-size scale (compact, default, large) and the sort order for your hand (by suit, by rank, by sequence). The default of "default card size, sort by suit" is fine on a recent phone but is cramped on a smaller device. Switching to "large cards, sort by sequence" makes the table read more like a physical hand and reduces the cognitive load of seeing a meld opportunity. If you wear reading glasses, switch to large before your first session rather than discovering the option later.

Language settings are the easiest to overlook. Most rummy apps ship in English and one or two regional languages, and the default follows your device language rather than your reading preference. If your device is set to English but you read the local language more fluently, switch the app to that language in the settings panel — the table terminology (especially the sequence and set naming) is technical and is harder to follow in a second language under time pressure. The translation quality varies by platform, so if you find the local-language labels confusing, switch back to English; do not assume the app's English is worse than its translation.

Biometric login (fingerprint on Android, Face ID on iOS) is the single highest-leverage security setting in the app. With biometric login enabled, the app unlocks only when the biometric succeeds — a stolen phone with a locked screen cannot open the app even if the thief guesses your password. Without biometric login, the app falls back to your password, and your password is the only thing protecting the wallet. Most platforms also allow you to require a fresh biometric for withdrawals above a threshold, which is the correct setting for any wallet over a few hundred rupees. If your device does not support biometrics (older Android devices, some low-end models), use a strong PIN and a short auto-lock timer instead.

Versions

When the app version matters.

Four situations where the version on your phone determines whether the app will install, run, or be safe to use at all.

Minimum operating system requirements

Most modern rummy apps require Android 8 or later, and iOS 13 or later. The requirement exists because the app uses OS-level services (secure storage, encrypted sockets, biometric APIs) that older operating systems do not provide. If your device runs Android 7 or iOS 12, the app either will not install from the store or will install and refuse to launch with a "device not supported" message. The fix is either to update the operating system (if your device still receives updates) or to use the browser version instead — the browser version is designed to run on older hardware precisely so older devices are not locked out.

Why old app versions break

App versions older than roughly twelve months break for three predictable reasons. First, the platform's authentication endpoints have rotated, and the old app no longer recognises the handshake. Second, the payment gateway has migrated, and the old app no longer opens the deposit flow correctly. Third, the responsible-play and RNG-certification modules have been updated, and the old app may still play, but the operator is no longer underwritten to honour its results. If your app is more than three releases behind, the operator is within their rights to refuse withdrawals from that build until you update.

How to verify your installed version

Open the app and look for "About", "Version" or "Settings → About". The version number is shown in the form X.Y.Z (major.minor.patch) and should match the version on the platform's published download page. On Android, you can cross-check in Play Store under "About this app → Version". On iOS, the App Store page lists the current version. If your installed version is more than 30 days older than the published version, manually trigger an update; auto-update is usually on but can be paused by a low-storage condition or a metered-data setting.

When the version is critical and you should not play

Three situations where the version on your phone should stop you from playing, not just nag you to update. First, if the platform has published a security advisory naming your build as affected, update or stop immediately. Second, if the app prompts you to update on every launch and you have ignored it for more than two weeks, the platform is signalling the build is no longer supported. Third, if you have just restored the app from a backup or sideloaded it from outside the official store, the version may be authentic but the integrity check has not run — clear the data and reinstall from the official store before playing for real money.

App security

What to do if you lose the phone.

Three steps, in the order they matter, when the device with the app installed is lost or stolen.

Log out from any active session

Open the platform on any other device or browser. Go to security settings and end all active sessions. Most platforms allow this from the web version even if the app is the only place you normally log in. This kills the session token on the lost device, even if the device is offline.

Change your password

Open the platform on any other device. Change your password to something the lost device's autofill could not guess. If you used the same password on the platform as on other accounts, change those too — password reuse is the single most common credential leak, and a lost phone is exactly the moment attackers exploit it.

Enable or rotate 2FA

If the platform supports two-factor authentication and you had not turned it on, turn it on now. If you already had 2FA enabled and the lost device was the only 2FA destination, rotate to a new destination (authenticator app on a new device, hardware token, or SMS as a last resort). Most platforms handle this through customer support; the customer-care page explains what to expect.

Updates

Why the auto-update matters.

Two reasons the in-app auto-update is the right default.

The first reason is security. App updates include security patches for the platform's authentication, RNG verification and KYC modules. A version that is more than three months old is likely missing at least one patch that has since been published. Auto-update closes that window without you having to track it.

The second reason is responsible-play tools. The newest versions of most rummy apps include the most recent responsible-play features — deposit cap cooling-off, session-time auto-stop, cross-brand self-exclusion. Keeping auto-update on is the easiest way to ensure the tools you need are the tools that ship with your app version.

Two exceptions where you might want to disable auto-update: if you are on a metered data plan and the app is large, or if you are running an older device that cannot handle the latest version. In both cases, manually update every 30 to 60 days, and verify the version matches the platform's published current version.

How to check the version

Open the app, go to settings or about, look for the version number. Compare against the version on the platform's download page. If your version is more than 30 days behind the published version, manually update.

App versus browser

Touring a new platform for the first time — use the browser.

The browser version requires no install and no commitment. You can read the help pages, explore the lobby and even play a few hands at micro-stake before deciding whether to install the app. Most readers who skip this step end up installing apps they later uninstall; the 30-minute browser tour saves the storage and the notification noise.

Playing a regular session at your usual stake — use the app.

The app's notification system is the difference between missing a tournament you registered for and being reminded it is starting. The app's camera-based KYC is faster than the browser upload flow, which matters when you need to verify a withdrawal above the threshold.

Playing on a shared or work computer — use the browser, in a private window.

Never install a real-money app on a shared or work computer. If you must access your account from such a computer, use the browser in a private window so the session cookies are not retained, and log out completely before leaving the computer. Using a metered data connection — use the browser.

The app is roughly 35-90 MB depending on the build and uses more data per minute of play than the browser version because of the persistent notification socket. On a metered connection, the browser is the lower-data choice. On Wi-Fi, the difference does not matter.

Managing your responsible-play tools — use either, but confirm on the other.

The responsible-play settings (deposit cap, time-out, self-exclusion) are available on both the app and the browser. Make the change on the platform you are using, then open the other and confirm the change is reflected. The two platforms should always agree; if they do not, the platform has a sync bug and you should report it through the customer-care channel.

Performance expectations

What good app performance looks like.

Three measurements to take before deciding whether to keep or uninstall.

The first measurement is the lobby load time. A healthy app loads the lobby within 2 seconds on a recent phone on Wi-Fi. A lobby that takes 5+ seconds has a server-side or rendering issue and is worth reporting before you decide to keep the app.

The second measurement is the hand-to-hand latency. From the moment you submit a discard to the moment the opponent's discard arrives on your screen, a healthy app on Wi-Fi shows 1-2 seconds. A latency that creeps above 4 seconds is the first sign of a connection issue, and the connection is the operator's responsibility to maintain.

The third measurement is the battery drain. A healthy rummy app uses less than 10% of battery per hour of active play on a recent phone. A battery drain above 15% per hour suggests a background process or a notification socket issue; either way, the app is doing more than it should, and uninstalling is reasonable.

Take all three measurements in the first week after install. If all three are within the healthy ranges, keep the app. If one is outside, file a support ticket before uninstalling — the operator may have a fix in progress that resolves the issue without a reinstall.

When to uninstall

Uninstall the app if the operator has not addressed a known performance issue within 30 days of your support ticket. Do not uninstall while a withdrawal is in flight — the withdrawal does not depend on the app being installed, but you want to be able to check the status from the app if a support ticket is needed.
